Education:
Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Rhode Island, Kingston RI, in 1984. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the College of Engineering of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1975. Currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Other Professional Experience:
I worked as a Principal Engineer and/or Principal Systems Analyst in real-time operating systems and simulations in support of the US Navy Submarine Force for a total of 14 years. I worked for Computer Sciences Corporation, Sperry-Univac/Unisys, and General Dynamics. Previous to that, I was an engineering officer on a nuclear submarine (USS James Madison).
Personal Interests
- Wine and Winemaking: I'm a active member of the American Wine Society, the Illinois Grape Growers and Vintners Association, and the Amateur Winemakers of Central Illinois.
- Music: Playing bass guitar at the Wesley United Methodist Church, on the University of Illinois campus, Urbana, IL. (Sundays at 11:15 AM)
- Genealogical research related to the ancestors of my children. I have records on over 1600 relatives. I am particularly interested in the surnames
